Story
Here we go again! After promising myself that I’d take part in a Pilgrims Hospice fundraiser again in the future, I’m back to run my next 5k but this time in full on Santa gear. Along the sea front. In November.
Pilgrims Hospice is a charity very close to my heart. The wonderful nurses there cared for my Dad over the Christmas before he died and showed nothing but consideration, sensitivity, respect and compassion for not only him, but our family as well. I will never forget their kindness.
I hope to raise some money to allow this charity to continue doing their work as wonderfully as they do and so that other families can receive the same experience of Pilgrims Hospice that we did.
Finally, it’s just a lovely way to be able to remind everyone that Dennis Beer was very much here. A big, talented man with rough hands from working hard. A principled, funny, problem solver who had a story for every occasion. He was the best Dad I could have ever had - and I will always be so proud to be his.
Did you know...- £1 could pay for a patient to enjoy a mince pie and custard in the run up to Christmas- £10 could pay for a patients Christmas dinner- £30 could pay for 2 complimentary therapy sessions for a patient, to give them a distraction from their illness, and the opportunity to relax over the festive season. - £45 could help a Pilgrims counsellor provide a 1-1 session with someone struggling to cope with their first Christmas without a loved one. - £100 could allow our community nurses to continue making home visits to our patients that wish to spend their Christmas at home with family and friends.Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page and donating to help Pilgrims deliver skilled and compassionate end-of-life care, free of charge, to thousands of people in east Kent every year.Your support is appreciated and so important, thank you.
