Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I set myself a challenge in October last year to take part in a half marathon. I wanted to get fit after five years of doing very little exercise (mainly due to having my children).
The training has been tough at times, because I am not a natural runner by any means, and I have very little free time to train. However with the support of family and friends, plus the help of my training buddies (mainly my Mum, as well as my friend and colleague, Sandra Koch), I tried to train once or twice a week, and gradually increased my distance.
As well as setting myself a personal challenge, I also wanted to raise some money for charity (more on this below). I didn't start fundraising before the race as, for various reasons, I wasn't sure that I was going to be able to take part. Luckily I could, and I am delighted to say that I ran all the way round (very slowly at times and was even overtaken by some walkers!). My time was 2:37 and 46 seconds. Not fast by any means, but I'm ecstatic that I made it round : ).
Anyway, my chosen charity is Sands (Stillbirth and neonatal death charity). They are UK-based and support anyone affected by the death of a baby. They also promote research to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
If you would be able to make a small donation to Sands, then I would be very grateful.
Thank you very much.
