Story
As many of you will know, when I hung up my riding boots, I then started looking for new challenges. My friends and I started doing mud runs, and then I discovered Triathlons.
I have now competed in over 20 triathlons around the country and have completed 3 half iron man tri's as well.
I entered the Escape from Alcatraz on a whim as the chances of getting selected in the random international ballot were slim and I didn't for a moment consider I would get in!
Now I find myself facing a 1.5 mile swim off the coast of San Francisco from Alcatraz the famous prison. I will be starting the swim by jumping of the side of the San Francisco Belle Steamboat. The water will be cold and has the odd shark! although we have been assured they are not interested in us!!
Once the swim is over, I will ride my bike for 18 miles through the Great Highway and Golden Gate Bridge Park, and then will finish with an 8 mile run ending at the Marina on the Wharf.
If you can spare a few pounds for a charity that has helped my family I would appreciate it.
