Story
I am running the Eastbourne half marathon on 4th March to raise money and awareness for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of Geoff Wallis, my amazing Dad, a proud Grandad & a loyal & loving husband to my Mum, Jane.
Dad was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in Summer of 2010 and after a successful operation he underwent 6 gruelling months of weekly chemotherapy sessions in the Macmillan Unit at Leighton Hospital. He constantly praised the caring nature & the support shown to him by the Macmillan nurses. There is no doubt that they made an incredible & positive difference to what were his final few months.
Dad lived life to the full, his motto was 'One life, live it' and he practiced this in all aspects of his life; work, holidays, family and friends. Everyone around him couldn't help but be swept up by his energy & we all basked in his glow. Dad passed away on 27th April 2011, just 2 days after his first grandson was born. It is a testament to what an incredible man he was that at his funeral, the church was full, with hundreds of people attending to pay their respects.
I am so very grateful for any donation you are willing to make, thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support, and remember, in the words of my Dad, 'One life, live it!'.
