Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When my daughter Daisy was just 5 weeks old we noticed that she was severely jaundice and was not putting on any weight. After a visit to the doctors and some blood tests she was soon admitted to Birmingham childrens hospital for more tests to be carried out. We was informed by the consultant that Daisy's liver was not functioning properly but the cause was unknown. After many more blood tests and liver scans, at 8 weeks old Daisy was Diagnosed with a condition called Aplha1 Antitrypsin Deficiency. This is a genetic condition that effects the liver in children and the lungs in adults. Daisy was treated for liver disease, put on an NG feed to help with her nutrition and given daily medications. Daisy is now nearly 1. She is currently of all medications and the NG tube has been taken out. she still continues to throw her food back at me as her appetite is not the best but, she is doing well and continues to gain weight so i'm happy with that. Childrens liver disease were there for us with information and support when we needed it most. Im doing this run to help raise awareness of childrens liver disease and to also fund this charity so they can continue to support families when they don't know who else to talk to.
