Story
Along with my big sister Beck we are going to be taking part in the wolf run in September! For anyone who doesn't know, the wolf run is a challenging 10k run with a swim in a lake and lots of muddy and hard obstacles along the way!! We have decided to try to raise money for Warwick Hospital Special Care Baby Unit and this is why..
On 19th June 2014 mine and Chris' little Isla Hope entered the world a month early - Isla could not breathe on her own and was in a very bad condition. She had to be sedated and ventilated to name a few things. We weren't sure at this point if our much wanted little miracle was going to be ok. Warwick hospital and their fantastic team saved our little girls life when she was born but she was that poorly that Warwick hospital told us that they had not got a high enough level of equipment to help make her better, so 12 hours after she was born she was taken away from me and whisked off to a hospital an hour and a half away from home in an ambulance with her Dad following - leaving me at Warwick without my little girl next to me. I was taken over to her a long 12 hours after she went. Isla spent 4 days in intensive care and a further 8 days in special care over in Kettering hospital. We spent nearly 2 weeks with her at the hospital an hour and a half away from home - we were scared, homesick and miles away from our family. Luckily the hospital and our family were fantastic and found us somewhere to stay and supported us more than we could of wished for - but being in a place we didn't know made the whole experience even worse than it already was.
I want to raise money to give Warwick SCBU money towards getting the high level of equipment that they desperately need to prevent other parents going through what we did.
Everyone who knows us knows how precious our Isla is and how without warwick hospital and their staff our dream of being her parents wouldn't of come true. We can not thank the hospital enough and doing this is our way of showing how grateful we are.
The wolf run is a hard thing for Beck and I to complete, but we are training hard and knowing that we are doing it to say thank you for everything that was done for Isla will make us even more determined to cross that finish line - so if you feel you can spare a pound or 2 then please sponsor us.
Thank you 💗 x
