Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
I am taking part in this triathlon in memory of the lovely lady that was Helen Pote. I was too scared to take part in the original triathlon because I really do not like swimming - don't like to get my head wet!!! How can I not join in now - Helen did it in the face of her terminal diagnosis, getting my head wet is a small price to pay.
I have twisted Russ's arm in to also taking part - please take pity on him!!! He will need all the support he can get :-))
I have decided to donate any money I raise to Breakthrough Breast Cancer. My Mum was diagnosed in August 2013 with Breast Cancer. In October 2014 I found out that I have a mutation in the BRCA2 gene. This gives me an 88% chance of getting breast cancer. A bit of a blow but I consider myself to be 'lucky'. I have found out about this risk before it is too late, I can take preventative measures to reduce my risk - others are not so lucky.
The BRCA1 and BRCA2 discovery has only been made in the last couple of years through research Breakthrough has funded. Many more discoveries will follow, maybe it won't be so long before a cure is discovered.....please donate your pennies.
