Story
Every year more than 103,000 children and young people experience the incredible care of Evelina London, which is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.
As a family, we have experienced first-hand the positive impact that knowledgeable, highly specialised services can have by benefitting from the Evelina Tourette’s service for the last 6 years.
The Evelina helps thousands of children each year with a multitude of conditions from the extremely rare to the more common; also from chronic long-term conditions to acute, short lived illnesses.
Charity money is essential to support ground breaking and cutting edge developments to best care for all of these children in all the departments. It also funds resources to help make the stressful time during which children are in hospital more manageable with play therapy, toys and innovations such as VR headsets for distraction during certain procedures as just a few examples.
In Evelina Paediatric allergy, where I work, we were one of the first allergy departments in the UK to get a psychology service dedicated to children with allergies and it was only able to be initiated due to charity funding. This is now seen as an essential part of any allergy service nationally. We hope to be able to raise money to expand our service to be able to offer food desensitisation to a larger number of children over the next few years and this will not be possible without charitable funding.
George is also running with me and has agreed to go with my pace which means he will be running for at least 33% longer than usual!
We both thank you so much for your support!
