Story

In May 2010 my Dad was admitted to St Michael's Hospice in Harrogate just weeks after being diagnosed suddenly with terminal cancer.  He died on 8 May aged 65 just a few months after retiring.

Please take a moment to read my dad's story on www.justgiving.com/kate-scott2010

Last year I raised over £2000 (including gift aid) for Bowel Cancer UK by completing a 5k run for the first time in my life.  This year help me to raise more, this time for St Michael's Hospice in Harrogate, in a sponsored event.  Due to an ongoing knee injury, I am collecting sponsorship for the hospice's Midnight Walk, a quarter marathon (approx 10k) which I am doing at the beginning of July, rather than the York 10k as displayed on this page.

The hospice cares for those at the end of their life in its in-patient unit but also provides much needed respite care, has a day therapy unit and a community bereavement service Just B which supports children, young people and adults who have been bereaved.  There is no cost to those who use this service.
