Story
I need your help. I'm stuck in a lockdown more severe than anything I've ever experienced. The very people who warmly welcomed me to Saigon are struggling and starving. There is no welfare state. You cannot leave your home. You cannot run your business. I joined an app that connects you with people that need food in your area and I was overwhelmed by the numbers of people asking for help. We packaged emergency supplies for the few we could and transferred some money but this is a crisis and many many people need help. Saigon Children's Charity are on the front line continuing their work to help children and families in desperate need. They focus on long term sustainable change for future generations whilst helping to provide food and medication to those suffering in the current Covid crisis.
On Monday I turn 40 and to raise money for Saigon Children's Charity I will climb my tower block 40 times. The stairwell is 110 meters from the first step to the last spanning 34 stories. It's a dark, dusty, windowless stairwell that averages 31C in temperature but its the only place that I can sneak out of my home to train without being seen by security. 40 ascents and descents is the equivalent to a 8,800m climb or just a tiny bit higher than the elevation of Everest from sea level. I am hoping to complete the challenge in 20 hours. If you could support me in any way to raise money for this incredible charity so that I can know that when I share a meal with my family on my birthday, that I have done everything I possibly can to help those around me. I miss you all and long for the day that we can love, laugh and share a meal together again. Thank you for your help.
