In May this year I found a lump that I thought was nothing and have been on a crazy journey over the summer discovering that I had a a malignant Phyllodes tumor that had to be removed along with alot of surrounding tissue, followed by a top up of radiotherapy to make absolutely sure it's all gone.
This is a very rare form of Breast Cancer but the information I recieved through Breast Cancer now and the team at Singleton hospital has been amazing! They have all helped so much to ease me through decisions on surgery, treatment and put my mind at rest about the recovery journey.
Due to treatment and recovery from surgery there's no cycling or swimming for me until November but I can walk! So what better way to spend my time than raising awareness and some money, alongside a few blasts of radiotherapy in early October.
I am so grateful that this was caught early, that it was treatable and that I had such amazing care from the team at the Breast care unit in Swansea. We are so lucky to have charities like this, the NHS and the amazing people that work there.
Please remember to check your boobs regularly and remind friends and family in your life too. Even if you think it's nothing, get it checked! I thought my 'silly boob' was just a lump and nothing to worry about but I'm so glad I got it checked out!
