Story
Oh jesus, someone else doing something good and wholesome and expecting my hard earned cash for it, I know......
.... But I'm calling out to you all because I'm doing the London Marathon on 21st Aprill 2013 for the first and last time in my life (the training is inhibiting my wine dinking ability so believe me, this is not going to happen again.)
I'm doing it to raise money for the National Osteoporosis Society. And why such a random charity? Because not too long ago I was diagnosed with having osteoporosis in my back, which means the bones in my spine are so thin they are quite critically weak. It's not a life threatening illness, but it does cause a lot of people a lot of constant discomfort and the National Osteoporosis Society acts as a support network for people who face constant problems as a result of it. Imagine never being able to trip over or catch a ball for fear of breaking your finger and arm bones.... That's real life for some people.
As I said, I am never going to do anything like this again (promise!) so if you can spare anything towards my goal I'd be immensely grateful. Even a donation of £10 means the society can staff it's phone line with nurses for one hour, anything upward of that helps the society provide support and resources for people who are constantly off work with fractures.
The best thing about it all is that running actually strengthens my bones, so fingers crossed this marathon could be exactly what I need......!
