Story
Hello,
I'm Kate and I hate running. I also hate asking people for money. But I do love butterflies and moths or, more importantly, the vital role they play within our ecosystem. That's why this year I'm taking on the Great North Run to support the fantastic work of the Butterfly Conservation.
Butterflies and moths are a vital part of our wildlife heritage and are valuable as sensitive indicators of the health of our environment. Over the last 40 years, butterflies and moths have declined at an alarming rate, so I am pleased to raise funds for a charity which is working to halt the decline and support recoveries.
I've never competed in any running race before, so the Great North Run will be a huge personal challenge for me. Your support will inspire me to train harder and spur me on when I feel like I've had enough! Any contribution, big or small, will mean a great deal, both to me personally and to the Butterfly Conservation.
Butterfly Conservation is the UK charity dedicated to saving butterflies and moths. The Butterfly Conservation improve landscapes for butterflies and moths, creating a better environment for us all. Find out more at www.butterfly-conservation.org
