Story
Yes, we're doing it again... and this time we've roped in a third team mate, Matt!
Our team fundraising target is £1,000 - and if we reach our target, Heidi and Matt's employer EY will match our team's donations and contribute another £1,000.
A bit about us:
In 2018 Kate and Heidi finished the 84km Race to the Tower double marathon, and in 2019 they did the 100km Race to the Stones ultra marathon. We lost toe nails, cried, but did it all for a good cause and finished both events hand in hand.
And since we had so much fun (!) we've decided to do it all over again this year by entering the 100km Race to the King ultra marathon. We'll run some, we'll walk a bit of it - we're not in it to get a time. We're in it to raise important funds for School Ground Sounds, and here's why you should support us...
A bit about our charity:
School Ground Sounds aims to transform the lives of young people through music. Operating in Brixton and focussing on those from lower income backgrounds, it provides song-writing and music-making opportunities to 11 – 16 year olds – aiming to build confidence and valuable life skills as well as building positive engagement and keeping them off the increasingly dangerous streets. For the 16 – 24 age bracket, it provides opportunities and support to aspiring musicians through the mentoring programme; Grit School (a seven-week crash course in the music industry); and the EP Accelerator programme. It provides young people with contacts, insights, skills and confidence to pursue their dreams. With the decline in priority and funding given to music in state schools the demand for what SGS offers is greater than ever.
Thank you very much for your support!
