Fundraising for Multiple Sclerosis Society
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
After running a couple of half marathons....I set myself the new challenge of completing a whole marathon...! This time I wanted to run for more than just myself and I have chosen to raise money for the MS Society. I have chosen this charity as my best friends dad suffered and sadly died as a result of this disease and so this is in memory of Bill. Multiple Sclerosis is a devastating and disabling neurological condition. The symptoms are more than the increasing physical disability and decreasing independence, but also highly emotional. MS related nerve damage can cause mood swings or simply the pain and frustration of the condition means that 50% of suffers experience serious depression at some point. MS is a disease that not only takes over the life of the diagnosed, but also their families and many partners become full time carers.
The MS Society not only offer vital funding into new treatments and the ongoing search for a cure to this heart wrenching condition, but they go beyond that to help provide emotional and practical support for both sufferers and their families. Hopefully this research will mean that in the future, many people may never have to experience the frustration, pain, and loss of independence that Bill suffered and the effects this took on his family. In the meantime, MS Society will continue to help those in need.
The MS Society are not paying for my trip...so your donation money is not being spent on anything but the good work they do! Unfortunately there are 26.2 miles standing in the way of me completing this challenge....a tad daunting! Despite my previous half marathons....this has been a bigger challenge then expected...I have had my second bout of shin splints (2 lot caused by my over eagerness to get back to training!). So now I am on a physio programme and a slow rehabilitation to running and so this marathon is without a doubt going to be a massive challenge. I am determined to make the start line and I am currently waving goodbye to my lovely social life to ensure it happens! So if nothing else please donate for the shins! They need you!
