Story
This Saturday the 22nd January, I will be taking on the extreme challenge of swimming one mile in less than 5 degrees, wearing only my swimming costume, swim hat and goggles - "an Ice Mile".
There are only 623 swimmers who are ratified "Ice Milers" with the IISA!
The challenge came about quite quickly when in November 2021, I realised I could swim further than I thought in extremely low temperatures, head down front crawl. I had only been able to watch in awe, other hardcore swimmers do this.
Once again as I take on an extreme challenge, I think about my Aunty Dale 64, who is housebound with MS unable to enjoy the life she had imagined. I know if she had not been diagnosed with MS, she would have at least once, come swimming with me in cold water, she loved the outdoor life.
As I did when I swam my solo across The English Channel in 2020, I'd like to ask you to help me raise as much as we can for the amazing MS Society who support people less fortunate than ourselves.
Love Kate xx
