We help the hospital offer a better future to seriously ill children across the UK

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On 24th April 2016 I will run the London Marathon to raise money for the Anna Lewis Brighter Future Fund at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

I am doing this in memory of my little cousin Anna Lewis who died of Mitochondrial Disease on 1st April 2012 aged fourteen months. Anna was a healthy, happy baby before she was struck down by a mystery illness on 19th January 2012 aged eleven months. GOSH ultimately diagnosed it as Alpers' Disease - a rare Mitochondrial Disease. Anna only lived another two weeks after diagnosis.

Currently there is no cure or even treatment for Alpers'. This is something Anna's family and friends are determined to change,  and we need your help. The Mitochondrial Research Group at GOSH is working to identify the genetic causes for Mitochondrial Disease and possible treatments. All donations to Anna's Brighter Future Fund go to the Mitochondrial Research Group so that in the future there may be treatments or even a cure available.

26.2 miles will be a serious challenge and any money you're able to give will be a massive incentive to put my trainers on and get out for a run in the coming Winter mornings!

Thank you so much for your support.
