I am running this years Great North Run to raise money for Tiny Lives which helps the Special Care Baby Unit in the RVI, Newcastle Upon Tyne.  My son, Nathan, was born 7 weeks premature last year and spent 4 weeks receiving care in the Special Care Baby Unit.  Not only was he well cared for and looked after but they also gave a lot of much needed support to me and my family.  Nathan is now a healthy and thriving 17 month old and I cannot thank the unit enough for what they did for Nathan and myself, so by running this years GNR its a chance for me to give something back to them so they can help other families in the situation we found ourselves in last year.  We would be extremely grateful if you could all dig as deep as possible and donate, as you never know when someone you know may need to use this service....I was one of those people who thought having a premature baby would never happen to me but it did!!
