Story
I can’t believe I’m doing another desert trek. And this time without camels. You all know I’m more Patsy than Jessica Ennis, so for me this is going to be tough. And very hot. 60+ km across some rough Jordanian landscapes…
I’m already nursing my first training injury, so I’ve sought advice from my exercise gurus: "Get some glutes" – not available on amazon prime, I’ve checked. "Lots of drugs" – not appropriate for Jordan. But any other training advice welcomed!
More importantly, never before have there been so many children whose lives are being destroyed by war and conflict. Whilst War Child can’t stop the violence, they can keep kids safe, give them an education and equip them with skills for the future. Their vital life-changing work and psychological support will give young people the strength to enable them to rebuild and flourish in the countries they are desperate to return home to when conflict ends.
Imagine being Nour who fled her village in Syria in the middle of the night with her family. During her journey to Jordan she was captured by militia, beaten, cut, stripped, starved and separated from her family. Twice. She’s just six. Too many horrors at such a young age.
Those scars will take a long time to heal, but War Child is there providing her with therapy and support. Nour may be safe and have shelter, but together with her family she also needs emotional help, and she deserves an education, and a childhood.
Please sponsor me to enable War Child to help thousands of kids like Nour in Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Afghanistan, DRC, CAR and Uganda.
I'll also be organising a few events over the next couple of months so keep your eyes open for some fun invitations. (And there’ll be a separate collection to fund my camel requirements!)
Thank you! xxx
PS: full costs of trek covered so 100% of donations will go to War Child
