Story
Hi, it’s Kate. I’m a Staff Sergeant Cadet within
Cambridgeshire Army Cadet Forces and I was nominated for the Duke of
Westminster Award by my detachments SSI Dale Irving – I have been lucky enough
to reach the finals and spent a week of selection in Somerset and 2 weeks in
Cornwall with a great group of young people and CVQO Ambassadors. Next Stop is
the House of Lords Awards Lunch on Friday 25th November.
In Cornwall the CVQO Finalists and I worked with some
amazing charities who I am now raising funds and awareness for.
I will be completing a Beginners Triathalon, 750m
Swim, 20km Cycle and 5km run, and with your help, try to raise as much as we
can for these great charities – thank you for your support.
The Charities who do great work with people and the
environment are:
The Wave Project – The Wave project harnesses the
power of the ocean to improve the mental health of children and young people.
Our 6,000 volunteer surf mentors deliver life-changing surf therapy, every day.
The National Trust - As the biggest conservation
charity in Europe, they protect and care for places so people and nature can
thrive. They look after hundreds of houses and close to a million objects,
along with vast areas of coastline, countryside, and green spaces, for
everyone's benefit.
Surfers Against Sewage - is a national marine
conservation and campaigning charity that inspires, unites and empowers
communities to take action to protect oceans, beaches, waves and wildlife. SAS
love our oceans and would like to see them better protected for the future for
everyone.
Shelter Box - Their mission is to provide
emergency shelter to families who have lost their home to disaster,
enabling them to rebuild their lives.
The Eden Project – they are an educational charity;
their destinations and projects explore the interconnections between
all living things.
Cornwall Wildlife Trust - Cornwall Wildlife
Trust believes in a wilder future for Cornwall, where the wildlife and
wild places are cherished for all to enjoy
