Story
This is the first time I have ever set myself the challenge of running a marathon. I'm scared! The London Marathon is one of the things I wanted to do before I was 30 so it's last chance saloon to get that one ticked off.
Before I signed up to this I had never ran more than 5k and some crazy part of me thought that 26 miles seemed acheivable (10 mins on the tredmill and I think I'm Paula Radcliffe).
My Dad is my wing man for the training period, cycling next to me on the dark evenings keeping my motivation going whilst I pant and gasp my way through each mile. I'm slowly getting there...but it's really hard work.
I'm going to be updating my page with how it's going (although those with the misfortune of sitting near me in my office will be getting daily updates...), so hopefully once the Great South Run is all done by the end of the month I'll have a really positive milestone to report.
I'm raising money for Disabiliy Sports Events. A lot of light has shone on Disabiltiy Sports following the 2012 Paralympics and it's really important that this focus is retained.
DSE's work means more disabled people can access sport from playground to podium, whether they have potential elite talent or just wish to be active. These opportunities help to increase health, well being in addition to confidence, which are essential for everyday life.
I believe opportunities should be available to everyone, so I'm proud to run for this cause.
Now the fundraising stuff...
