Story

Hi, everyone! I hope you're all looking after yourselves as best you can during this lockdown.

We are all enduring a lot of stress, uncertainty and practical difficulties as a result of this unprecedented global pandemic. However, it is in these most challenging of times that we must pull together more than ever and support those that are less fortunate than ourselves. For that reason, I will be going from goldilocks to baldilocks in order to raise some money for the charities that are helping those most in need in our communities. It took me a while to decide which charity to raise money for, but in the end, I chose the British Red Cross, who have partnered with the National Emergencies Trust for their Coronavirus Response, because they help a wide range people and offer a large variety of services and support.

In 2014, I chopped off a large portion of my hair and raised £305 for Samaritans, with the hair being donated to The Little Princess Trust. As I'm chopping off an even larger portion of my hair this time, I'm aiming to raise at least £350 for the British Red Cross Coronavirus Response, which will go to helping those in dire need during this challenging time.

I will be shaving my head when we reach £350 in donations, but I'm hoping we can raise more! If we reach £400 in donations in total to BRC, I will personally donate £25 to Refuge and £25 to Samaritans. If we surpass £500 in donations in total to BRC, I will donate a further £25 to each of the aforementioned charities. Refuge is a charity that supports women and children who are victims of domestic abuse. With the lockdown measures in place, victims of domestic abuse are being forced to quarantine with their abusers, so it's more important than ever that they can access support during this time. Samaritans is a charity, which is very dear to me, that offers to support to those suffering from mental health issues. We can all do with a little support during this tumultuous time, so I encourage you to reach out to them if you are struggling mentally.

As before, I will be donating my hair to The Little Princess Trust to be used to make wigs for children who have lost their hair while undergoing treatment for cancer.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support!
