Story

KartForce Guinness World Record Attempt - Mon 9th & Tues 10th July at Teesside Karting in Middlesborough

 The Record attempt is:

Karting - greatest distance in 24hrs outdoors (team) - hand controls

A team of injured troops are attempting a Guinness World Record for karting the greatest distance in 24hrs.

This is a huge task to take on for the team who are made up of injured service personnel whose injuries range from 75% burns to double amputees & blindness. It will be extemely demanding both physically and mentally.

Raising money through this World Record Attempt will help fund KartForce to continue to setting up karting events for injured troops and allowing us to produce more of our adapted hand controls so that people of ALL abilities can enjoy the thrill of karting on a level playing field with non-injured drivers.

Meet some of the team:

Steve lost his left leg when the vehicle he was driving in was hit by an IED. He is a very smooth kart driver and has been a consistent winner in our events. One time charging through the field from 9th to 2nd.

Martyn, having survived being blown up, severely burnt and shot twice in the same incident, Martyn has taken to karting like a duck to water. A highly focused and calm individual with a natural ability to race karts.

Mark is a quiet double amputee with a very impressive ability to work his way around a kart track. Mark is very keen to advance in karting and eager to race.

Ricky is a double amputee with five missing fingers, only his thumb & ring finger on his right hand and blind in one eye and is a holder of a Military Cross. A fantastic and truly inspirational lad.

We introduce British injured troops to team endurance racing, starting with karting and progressing to car racing. They compete in mainstream racing against teams of non-injured drivers - on a totally level playing field, regardless of injury. They take part in races from 2hrs to 24hrs.
