Story
We are walking 20+ miles to raise funds for PEEK (Possibilities for Each and Every Kid) ❤️
PEEK is a charity that supports the 1 in 3 children living in poverty in Glasgow. They want to improve the life chances of children, young people and families across Glasgow, and do this by -
❤️ protecting a child’s right to play, delivering free Street Play and Active Play sessions in communities and schools (plus issuing coats and wellies to children who may otherwise not have access to them - so that they can play all year round)
❤️ feeding families using their food truck, PEEK-a-CHEW, in communities and during the school holidays, and delivering cooking workshops to equip families with the skills to cook healthy meals
❤️ offering intervention, training, volunteering and accredited qualifications to young people to help them on their pathway to employment and adulthood (and recognising that the classroom environment isn’t the right fit for everyone)
❤️ being there for families at all stages - educating, empowering and helping families to build networks through free ante natal classes, Play Cafe for babies and toddlers, ASN sessions and parent carer workshops
❤️ supporting families during times of crisis with food vouchers, fuel top ups and further signposting
❤️ ensuring all children and young people have the opportunity to access the arts, such as theatre, photography, painting and more
Families that PEEK support can face many barriers, including poverty and inequality, trauma, poor physical and mental health, addiction, involvement with the criminal justice system and a lack of positive relationships and ties to their community. PEEK is committed to providing support in whatever way they can to help improve families’ life chances.
