Story
On 15th June 2014, myself and 8 friends are taking part in thegruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.
We will be walking 25 miles over the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in 12 hours!
I have chosen to raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity in Sheffield as many of you who know me will be aware that over the last year my mum has been recieving radiotherapy for her soft tissue sarcoma. The hospital looked after my mum throughout including her major surgery to have the cancer removed. For this fantastic support I want to give something back and say a big thankyou!!
Money raised will be divided between the specialist Kidney department at northern general hospital and the specialist Cancer hospital Weston Park. As one of my friends (also taking part in challenge) brother has been affected by kidney disease requiring two kidney transplants and long term intensive treatment.
Raising funds and undertaking this challenge was an easy decision to be part of when we discussed this a couple months ago, it is about doing something productive that we'd all enjoy and 'giving back' at the same time to the hospitals and contribute even a little bit towards the continued pioneering research, specialist equipment as well as frontline patient and family care, to have support on hand, someone to talk to and understand what's going on.
From pennies to pounds, anything we raise all helps!
