Story
I've never been much of a runner, I was never athletic a school, exercising really doesn't come naturally to me and I have very flat feet. What a perfect combination for a marathon runner! Right!?!
And yet I've always wanted to run the London Marathon, just once! It's become a bucket list item for me.
I've tried around 15 times to get a marathon place via the ballot, but unfortunately I've been unsuccessful every single time. Having completed the 26.2 miles virtually twice (once walking and once running), I would absolutely LOVE to do one time, live and in personal in London!
And this year was no different, another ballot entry, another rejection email. Except this year after being unsuccessful, I decided I would try and get a place by helping raise money for charity. The very first charity that came to mind was Meningitis Now.
Meningitis Now is a charity and cause that is close to both mine and my wife's heart. My wife sadly lost her best friend to Meningitis when they were both just 16. One of my classmates sadly died of Meningitis when I was at secondary school and another at university.
Meningitis is a terrible condition that affects all ages, causes long-term health after-effects, sadly kills some that contract it and can't be 100% vaccinated against.
Please help me raise money to raise awareness of the symptoms and research for vaccinations. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. If you would prefer to donate in cash, please get in touch!
If you work for Cisco, please make sure you apply for matched funding as the charity will receive twice as much money! Mention Cisco on the donation and I'll make sure to update the offline amount to include all the amazing matched funding. https://cisco.benevity.org/request-a-match?cause_id=826-803016
