Story
I will be doing 5k a day in August in memory of my dear friend Gavin McNaney. Gavin was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in February 2017. He managed to remain positive throughout his illness and the challenges he encountered along the way. Sadly, having contracted a common cold and an infection to his lungs, Gavin passed away on 18th November 2017.
Having discussed the excellent care that Gavin was receiving in Ward C10 of the City Hospital in Belfast, I mentioned to Gavin that one day I would raise money to help those in a similar position to him. Neither of us envisaged that his life would be cut short at such a young age.
Gavin is sorely missed by his family, large circle of friends and by all of those who had the privilege of meeting him during his short life.
I appreciate that there are many fundraising initiatives and that we cannot donate to them all. All donations, no matter how small, are most welcome.
If anyone would like to join me on one of my 32 5k runs, please let me know. Your company would be great.
Gavin was a true friend. I miss his wit, his stories, his wisdom, his linguistic genius, his 4am voice messages and his overall brilliance. I will never forget him. Sleep well, McNaney x
Thanks
Karl
