Story
If you had asked me growing up if I would ever climb Mt. Rainier I would have said no. If you had asked me in 2020, I would have also said no. But, in 2021 I found myself leading an unguided group of boys from Ohio (Max, Joe and Chris) to the Summit of Mount Rainier.
Getting into Mountaineering opened up a whole world for me I never understood was in my backyard. Backcountry skiing, rock climbing and ice climbing are all things I never knew where such obtainable possibilities. Somewhere in the process of learning the skills necessary to climb mountains and following every rad person I came across on Instagram, I made the decision that I wanted to be apart of an all female climbing team.
There are things that are uniquely female when it comes to mountaineering that women experience that men won’t necessarily understand. There are the obvious things, like having to take off your harness to go to the bathroom, to use or not to use a pee funnel. But also other things, like representation in the outdoors, encouraging environment, and the feeling of women achieving together.
In 2021 I took over the Outdoors at Amazon partnership with Climb for a Cause for Washington National Parks fund. I’m excited this year that we will be able to host an all Female Climbing team. As apart of this climb we will be doing women’s leadership classes, team building and skills training for our climb.
I've created this page because I am participating in 2023 Climb for a Cause. I am raising funds to support priority projects in the national parks here in Washington by climbing one of the iconic peaks: Mount Rainier, Mount Shuksan (in the North Cascades), or Mount Olympus (in the Olympics). The parks give so much, please join me in giving back to these magnificent places and help to make a last difference for Mount Rainier, North Cascades, and Olympic National Parks. The more people that know about Washington's National Park Fund, the greater their impact, so please spread the word by sharing my page with your friends and family. Thank you in advance for your generosity, it means a lot to the many who use national parks!
