Story
I lost my girlfriend Karen in 2005 and my wife Suzanne in 2012 after their long brave battles to beat this indiscriminate disease. Karen and Suzanne were both beautiful people inside and out, loved by so many and touching the lives of all who met them.
On both occasions, we chased around trying to complete bucket lists against the clock and it's been a lesson in following your dreams when you have them, not when you are running out of time.
The Isle of Man TT is one of the biggest events in motorsport but also amongst the most dangerous so when losing Suzanne, I decided that when widowed it would no longer be selfish to become a road racer whilst just young enough to get to the Isle of Man and compete at the ManxGP and hopefully the TT for a reasonable number of years.
I shelved the plan as unfair when I unexpectedly found happiness with Sharon but after thinking about it constantly until 2015, I knew I had to reveal my ambition and ask for her blessing or I'd always regret not trying so at 42 years old in September 2015, I entered my first motorcycle race.
It will be 2020 before my first outside chance at a TT entry which I may never get but I have spent large sums of money so far and chased all over the country and Europe racing at different levels to achieve each next step on this unlikely journey. I will continue to push with the spending, travelling and racing until such time as I have faced the TT or I have raced enough ManxGP's (same course, different event,) that someone official has confirmed I will never get a TT but until then, I refuse to take no for an answer nor be told I'm too old.
In the mean time, this is the most biggest endeavor of my life but and most most dangerous so I'm going into it with my eyes wide open, mittigating as much risk as possible but intend to use the journey to raise as much money money as possible for CRUK. I am shamelessly playing on the fact that they were both young, beautiful women with their lives ahead of them in the hope of pulling heartstrings and making a significant contribution towards cancer research over the years of this undertaking.
The worst I've suffered so far racing is a broken thumb, and a few bruises but hopefully along the way I'll have Karen and Suzanne keeping a watchful eye over me on track but feel free to keep all your fingers crossed too.
For updates on the racing you can find details on the website below which is currently undergoing maintenance.
