We support people with long term conditions to have an improved quality of life.

Story

Karen and Brian McCurry are needing to go into training.   A lot of training.  😂

After making the decision to join the Glasgow Kiltwalk and walk 23 miles to raise funds towards keeping a lifeline service going.

The Multiple Sclerosis Centre, Mid Argyll's small team of three staff members deliver 2 much valued and very unique projects - the Snowdrop Centre based in Lochgilphead and offering a range of activities to support our community's wellbeing and our Outreach and Community Wellbeing Project, reaching people living with long term conditions in their own homes across Mid Argyll, Kintyre, Islay and Jura who face various barriers to accessing services.

These projects have never been more needed, yet funding has never been more scarce.

We offer highly personalised support to people affected by various long term health conditions,  people impacted by the current cost of living crisis while living in rural and social isolation and people facing a challenging time in their lives.   We are often the first port of call for our community - unsure who to turn to or where to receive supportive services.

We offer various projects to connect others, give individuals a sense of purpose, boost physical and mental health, gain new skills and mitigate the impact of food, fuel and connection poverty.

Currently we support 300 people across Mid Argyll, Kintyre, Islay and Jura.   We are doing this work without any statutory funding, despite many referrals and requests for our experienced assistance from health and social care partners.     We strive to support all who are referred, however. without funding to do this work,  our 6 months reserves from generous donations will soon dry up.

We have never been more needed, we have never struggled so much to receive grant funding.

We are highly experienced grant writers and have always delivered  projects to a high standard that have been funded - yet we have never received so many funding bid rejections.

We are innovative and creative and can pivot quickly to meet needs and deliver new projects, but to do so we need core funding.

This year to survive we need to raise income through fundraising.  We know that most people are feeling the impact of the rising cost of living, if you cannot support us financially you can support by spreading the word. Sharing our posts will be very much appreciated.

We need the community who built our Centre to help us keep it open.

Thank You.
