Story

October 2008 Update

Firstly, I'd like to thank all of you who have already sponsored me either directly or by supporting my fundraising events.  These have included:  an aloe vera party; feeding Congleton Round Table at two of their business meetings; step-ups with the kids at Quinta Primary School (who raised a wonderful £151.55).  I'll also be holding a curry and quiz event at 12.30pm on Sunday 23rd November at the Bon-o-Phool Indian restaurant in Congleton, so please join us if you can.  To reserve places call the Bon-O-Phool at 01260 274488 or contact Karen at karen.hogg@astrazeneca.com.

There are only 6 weeks left of fundraising - I need to have my total in to VSO by 4th December.  It's all beginning to seem very real now!  Training is going well with lots of walking and visits to the gym.  As you can imagine, it's getting pretty cold up on the hills now.

Just to remind you - all funds raised will go towards education and kids with AIDS in Tanzania, so by sponsoring me, you are really supporting a very worthy cause.  Just think what privileges we have in this country.

Thanks again to everyone for all their support - anything you can give is greatly appreciated.  Karen

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

I will be taking part in the AstraZeneca/Voluntary Service Overseas Kilimanjaro Trek in February 2009.  During the trip I will visit 'Lea Toto' (meaning 'to raise a child' in Swahili), a project providing healthcare to orphan children living with HIV and AIDS in the slums there.  Money raised by the challenge will be going towards supporting this work, and similar projects throughout the country.  For more information on the work of VSO visit their site at www.vso.org.uk

I am committed to raising £4,000- the first £1,000 of which I need to submit by the end of July 2008 - so I'd be really grateful if you could sponsor me early.  Travel costs are borne by participants.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Voluntary Service Overseas will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Karen
