Story
Thank you soooo much everyone for sponsoring me, it has given me a real boost, and will be a huge help to Hospiscare.
Maybe some of you will consider joining in next year? It really was a fantastic event - and for such a good cause!
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I blame my brother for encouraging me to do this swim (thanks, Paul)!
I lost my Mum to cancer in July 2007. My
daughter and sister-in-law did the Race for Life on 19 July at Westpoint. As
this was Mum's 2nd anniversary, I didn't feel it was something I could do on
that day. My brother mentioned the swim to me, and as I am a swimmer (albeit a slow one!), that
sounded much more appealling!
My first experience of open water swimming was in 2007 when I coached a group to swim the . I had to understand what I was making them do! I loved it
- once I got over the fear of jelly fish!
This year I first got in the sea in March (brrrr!), and have been training
regularly at Budleigh each week with a group of like-minded (mad?!) swimming friends. I successfully completed the Topsham to Turf swim (1 1/2 miles in approx 56 mins), and the Burgh Island swim (about 1 mile, in approx 42 mins) this year, and I now feel ready for the Hospiscare challenge!
I am looking forward to the challenge of the lake swim - although
I'm not sure I'll be 'racing', just enjoying the experience and having fun,
whilst raising money for a good cause, close to my heart.
Thank you for visiting my page, and if you feel able to make a donation of any kind, big or small, that would be fantastic and would really spur me on!
