‘Our Dementia Choir’ began as part of a documentary created for BBC. The series saw actress Vicky McClure take us on a personal journey to discover the true extent of the power of music for those living with Dementia. Donations are vital to keep the choir together. Thank you for your support

My mum June Rickwood sadly passed away aged 82 on 20th October 2022.  Mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer's  Disease several years ago and faced many battles during this time. Despite troubled times of feeling depressed, frustrated, confused and scared often, there were happy times too. Mum particularly loved music and clapping her hands to favourite songs. She struggled with communication as well but playing music and singing with her helped her so much and cheered her up.

I have watched the series Our Dementia Choir on TV and it is so uplifting to see others with Dementia and their ability to be able to sing and remember lyrics despite memory loss.  To also see so much happiness, love and joy when they were singing. Truly inspiring.

In memory of June Rickwood -  Mum, Nan, Great Nan, Sister who we all loved dearly and will miss very much. She was the most generous and giving person.  Please kindly donate if you wish to.  We have asked for donations to Our Dementia Choir in preference to funeral flowers and appreciate your generous gift in remembrance of her.

Thankyou

Karen & Family xx
