Story
Karen Wade 1965 – 2021. Karen, Wife, Mother, Daughter,
Sister, Auntie and Friend was super clever, funny, kind, silly, brainy, loving and brave. I’m not sure brave really goes far enough, its a small word, it should be bigger, huge in fact. MND stole so much from her, walking, talking, shouting, singing, independence and choice.
Just popping out, nipping round the corner, running up the
stairs, cooking, dancing, writing with a pen – none of these were options anymore. Slowly MND took all these things away (and more). Over the last 6 years she has been pretty incredible. Determined to keep her life and that of her family, as normal as possible – supporting her treasured children, laughing with friends, going to concerts, getting involved in sponsored events – even doing an indoor sky-dive ! Challenging herself when every day was already a massive
challenge.
A while ago John did a sponsored bike ride to raise money
for the MND Association, Karen said she wanted to do the last mile with him if we could organise a suitable wheelchair and that she was honoured he is doing it – what an amazing reaction from an amazing person.
No one knows what life will throw at us and how we will
cope. But I hope I will always have courage and determination like Karen.
If you can make a gift to the MND Association in Karen’s
memory that would be fantastic – As well as funding desperately needed research, the MND Association give continuous and vital support to sufferers and their families who frankly have nowhere else to go for help, advice and financial assistance.
