Story

Dear friends,

Last year I celebrated 30 years in fundraising and I wanted to mark the occasion by doing something special to raise vital funds for the charity I work for, Shooting Star Chase.

On Sunday 4th June at 4.30am I will be taking part in Shooting Star Chase’s Sunrise Walk, when I will trek 10km through London, starting from Ham House in Richmond. I am honoured to have been asked by one of our supported families to walk with them, and of course I have said yes.

Unfortunately, I have damaged my foot! But do not fear – I am still going to train and complete the challenge!

Why? Because completing this challenge is absolutely nothing compared to what the children and families supported by Shooting Star Chase go through every day.

This is no easy challenge. I also have to consider how I am going to manage with no coffee shops, no handbag and worst of all, no high heels. Let alone it being 4.30am in the morning! Let’s hope there are water and Elnett stops along the route!

But in all seriousness, I am privileged to walk alongside a very brave young man and his family – and all the other amazing supported families taking part - and help raise much-needed funds for the 700 families cared for by Shooting Star Chase.

Thank you so much for visiting my page.

With love and thanks,

Karen
