Story

A little about us:

Karen:

"Hello, I’m Karen

Crazily I volunteered myself to do a 10k run for my works chosen 2016 charity…..
This will be the furthest I have pushed myself in my running since I began in May 2015 and I’m really hoping that, with your support, I will not only be able to prove to myself that I can do this but I will raise lots of lovely lolly for my charity aswell."

Charlotte:

"People who may know me are aware I recently underwent another operation on my femur following problems with my fitness/health for 4 years now. Setting this goal for myself to get back to normality as well as being an amazing cause to support others in tough times, I would appreciate any donations people have to offer (It all adds up!). This will be a hard experience to get ready for again as I was unable to walk without support only a month ago, I am pushing myself to prove we can achieve something if we set our minds to it.

Please support myself and Karen in reaching our target.......!"

And now the serious bit....

Our charity: Guide Dogs for the blind.

SInce 1931, this amazing charity has helped over 30,000 visually impaired people achieve life-changing independence. Guide dogs are supported by the charity from birth to retirement at a cost of £50,000 per dog (this includes training whilst still at the centre and continuation of support once they are with their new owners, this can include vet bills,
further training and even food). A guide dogs working life can last from
6-7 years and many people can require around 8 dogs in their lifetime!

Sadly the charity receives no Government help (national or local) to its
costs. They rely solely on the generosity of the general public.

All monies raised on this page will go directly to my local branch "Guide Dogs for the Blind Portsmouth & District"

So come on people, Let's help change someones life. DONATE TODAY!

The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.
