This is my 2nd year of taking part in the Great North Run. I have chosen to do it this year for the John van Geest Cancer Research Centre at the University because, after touring the centre, I felt that the work they do is so important to all of us. With one in three of us likely to be diagnosed with some form of Cancer during our lifetime the research they undertake is vitally important.
