My beautiful brave daughter Evie was severely injured in the horrendous terrorist attack at Manchester Arena in 2017. She suffered multiple life changing injuries including a fractured skull and wounds to her chest, wrist, hip and legs. She was taken to Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital where she had multiple surgeries. I am raising money for the UK Ronald McDonald House Charity, we chose to raise money for this charity as they provide accommodation near the UK’s major hospitals to help families stay near their sick children. We discovered very little support for families who have been through a terrorist attack but this charity helped us when we found our selves in the most unimaginable situation. We were unexpectedly miles away from home with a very poorly child in hospital, we had no idea what to do where to stay etc, it really isn’t something you think about but the reality is you need to stay somewhere. The Ronald McDonald House Charities gave me & my husband a room in the Ronald McDonald house Manchester opposite the hospital so we could be close to Evie at all time. The charity were truly amazing and helped us and other families as much as they could with the simplest of things. Evie was discharged home a few weeks later but some families are at the hospital for very long periods of time. The free 'home away from home' accommodation at specialist children's hospitals across the UK enables families to stay close to their child and maintain a degree of normal family life. We just wanted to try give back a little to the people that helped us most at the time.
