Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I was never a runner. For many years I had back problems which meant running was just too painful. After having surgery in 2016, I decided to try again. I optimistically ran up a hill and, after falling into a gasping heap at the top, decided that I quite liked it. And so, like the great Forest Gump - I just kept running! It keeps me sane when the world is a crazy place, and now I want to see if I can achieve the magic half marathon distance. I am from the North East, so having a place in the GNR is perfect - I am going home to run :-) And the red arrows will be there - whats not to love??
I am running to raise money for BEAT as eating disorders are a terrible, cruel and much misunderstood mental health illness. They destroy a persons life, taking away all that is joyful and replacing it with self-loathing, harmful and destructive behaviour, bleakness, depression and often - death. Eating disorders are a very lonely illness, where the sufferer struggles against something inside themselves that no-one else can see or understand. BEAT receives no government funding and relies on donations alone to offer support to sufferers and their loved ones.
