My fab friend Sian Johns and I will be running our first Cardiff half marathon on Sunday 2nd October and we are hoping to raise as much money as we can for the National Autistic Society to support the amazing work that they do. NAS are a charity that provide specialist help, information and care to children and adults living with autism, as well as to their families. So a worthwhile cause, added to which it's a charity close to our hearts as a family since our son Max was diagnosed with Autism last year. Max is almost 4 and is non verbal, he is a very happy, cheeky and loving little boy but spends the majority of time in his own little bubble! Thanks to the support and information from this charity we are slowly learning how to enter Max's little world, how to help him communicate, how to develop his understanding, how to teach him to learn through play and how to interact with others. They have also helped us as a family to understand and help us to accept his condition and have shown us how to help him reach his full potential. There is no cure for Autism and it affects over 700,000 people in the uk and their families. It is a spectrum condition, all autistic people share certain difficulties, but being autistic will affect them in different ways. Some autistic people also have learning difficulties, mental health issues or other conditions meaning people need different levels of support. But they can ALL learn and develop ,with the right amount of support they can all be helped to live a more fulfilling life of their own choosing. Please check out their website www.autism.org.uk for a better understanding and awareness of Autism. Any donations would be greatly appreciated and extremely motivational. Thank you Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
