Story

After being blessed with Sophia 2001 and Sadie 2003, in 2004 my husband Jason and I decided to try for another child. The pregnancy progressed to 20 w without incident, however "soft markers"were alerted to us at the 20 w scan. Now being a nurse I knew that this meant..."abnormalities found".The amniocentesis at the repeat scan confirmed our baby had a chromosome rearrangement so severe that the "odd movements"I was feeling were in fact epileptic fits. The prognosis was very poor,.....so we made the heartbreaking decision to end the pregnancy....I couldn't look at the vicar who visited after our son was still born, beaten by the guilt and shame of what I had done, until she told me she had made the same choice with an anencephalic baby.We hugged and agreed that life should continue ...after all its what I do.Please help me put some money back into the SANDS pot by supporting my hair shave,so this wonderful charity is able to "support and sort" for the next family that will need them.Over 100 babies die at or just after birth every week in the UK ( ONS online )...unfortunately there will be others.Thank-you K x

We named our son  Elliott James Mann   13.4.2005
