On 24th September it will be three years since we lost my dear friend very suddenly after she contracted necrotising fasciitis, a rare bacterial infection which causes a severe form of sepsis.
In her memory, I’m going to be taking part in three running events on three consecutive weekends to raise awareness and much needed funding towards this life threatening condition, 52 miles in total.
The three events are as follows:
Sunday 26th September: Harry Hawkes half marathon
Sunday 3rd October: virtual London marathon
Sunday 10th October: Royal Parks half marathon
Michelle was always a huge supporter of everything I did, and would call me a nutter and a madwoman before pouring me a large glass of Prosecco. I miss her every day so this is for her.
I would be so grateful if you were able to support me in this challenge in memory of an incredibly special person.
About the UK Sepsis Trust:
Fundraising is at the heart of our fight against sepsis.
It raises awareness, and sparks the question: “What is sepsis? In this way, fundraising can help prevent thousands of deaths & unnecessary suffering through knowledge & awareness of the symptoms.
It also funds our vital support work, Public Awareness, Educating Health Professionals & helping people adjust to life after sepsis through accessing our Support Group network. We also lobby government to support our cause and makes vital changes in areas such as the NHS.
