Every pet deserves to lead a happy and healthy life. As the UK's leading veterinary charity with 48 Pet Hospitals, we improve pets lives through prevention, education and treatment.Every year our dedicated veterinary teams carry out 2.7 million treatments on 470,000 pets in need - all made possible thanks to people like you.
I am running for PDSA because many years ago, they were the only ones who did not give up on our German Shepherd Rea, when everyone else wanted to put her to sleep at 6 months old. ‘We would know when the time was right’ to bring her in. The PDSA vet, Nigel, skilfully removed part of her jaw where the tumour had grown, she then led a very normal, active life . She lived until she was 14 years old. Without the PDSA I wouldnt have had those amazing memories with her.
I also admire the work of the PDSA Founder, Maria Dicken, who in spite of being judged and ridiculed carried on doing what she believed in, giving the opportunity to those who were poor to adequately care and love for their pets.
I also only started running this year 2018, and have given my German Shepherd a job as my part time training partner, she sees it as her job to run beside me, she takes it very seriously, so you will see me running around in the dark in Chelmsford Essex, training with her.
In 2018: I decided to take up running and after reading ‘Beginners Luck’ by George Anderson I was soon running my first park run, my first 10k and my first half, All within 4 months! . I still don't call myself a runner! The London Marathon will be my biggest challenge to date and my longest ever distance ran!!! I am excited and scared but will give it my all because my steps will help poorly pets!
