My story
A big thank you for logging onto this page, and supporting our first ever UJIA women's challenge. As you know I'm a passionate Israel supporter and believe in the power of people over politics to create change. I'm paying the £500 sponsorship personally but as a champion for women's philanthropy I'd love to raise an additional £2,000 by encouraging lots of donations between £10-£50. That's a challenge in itself and I hope you will help me by sharing this page.
The UJIA women fundraising trail sponsorship will invest in the Al Sanabel catering social impact project providing women on the fringes of society training and employment, opportunities.
Al Sanabel make nutritional and healthy school meals for disadvantaged school children. Originally established to provide employment for women in the Negev Bedouin community of Hura, UJIA was instrumental in helping Al Sanabel to expand, by supporting a second catering facility in the Jewish area of Migdal HaEmek in the north of Israel, working with disadvantaged orthodox Jewish women.
The impact of the Al Sanabel project is huge. The staff cook a hot meal for around 3,000 school children a day who live below the poverty line. This is their only opportunity to have a hot meal.
The landscape and narrative may have changed in Israel’s nearly 72 years but the social challenges are still great. Women need to be employed, and if you help employ them, 3,000 school children a day will be fed, a business will thrive, and the eventual profits ploughed back into the community. How amazing is that!
