Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I decided to create this page in memory of my dad, a man who gave me so many gifts but in particular the ability to run.

My dad died at the age of 65, having suffered with Alzheimer's for twelve long years. The man who was so full of life, who loved to sing and who could run like the wind, was latterly caught up in a body which no longer worked properly and  a mind that denied him his memories.

I run and race so often that I decided this was the best way for people to remember my dad and also to help the Alzheimer's Society with their work helping and supporting other people in very difficult circumstances.

My dad loved to run and so do I. Each time I take part in an event or simply go out to enjoy a run with friends or on my own, I think of him. I am so thankful that I am still able to share and enjoy an activity he was so passionate about. In doing so I still feel a deep connection to a man I loved so very much and to someone who gave so much love to others.

My dad was gone too soon! The following words, by Michael Jackson, are a true reflection of how I feel about the illness he endured and the way his life had to come to an end far too soon: 

"Like a rainbow fading in the twinkling of an eye,

Like  the loss of sunlight on a cloudy day,

Like the sunset dying with the rising of the moon,

Gone too soon."
