Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Vanessa and Karen have been running buddies for a number years after meeting and becoming friends on the tennis courts.

By supporting and encouraging each other, over the past 5 years or so they have completed a number of 10k races, a 10 mile race, 3 half marathons and are now about to embark on the ultimate challenge for them, the London Virtual Marathon on Sunday 3 October.

Both keen tennis players and committee members of their local tennis club, they have seen the introduction and expansion of tennis targeted at different community groups. Vanessa has been at the forefront of the introduction of disability tennis for both children and adults.  The latest group to become part of our tennis family has been Dementia Friendly tennis.

Research shows there are more than 850,000 people in the UK who have dementia.  1 in 14 people over the age of 65 have dementia and the condition affects 1 in 6 people over 80.

Vanessa and Karen have chosen Dementia UK as their chosen charity and are looking to raise funds to support Dementia UK in the work that they do to support individuals and their families
