Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page, in loving memory of Karen Broekhuis.
On Monday 4 November 2013, my step-mother, Karen Broekhuis, lost her battle with cancer. We are all very upset and saddened by this terrible news.
For the month of November, I'll be taking part in the MOVEMBER challenge to help raise money for Macmillian Cancer Support. Yes, that means I'll be growing a ridiculous moustache and embarrassing myself, and those seen with me, all for a worthy cause.
A few years ago I raised money in memory of my Brother, Robbin-Jean Broekhuis, who too lost his battle with cancer back in May 1988, one week before his 19th Birthday. Together we rose over £500 for Cancer Research UK.
This year, I’ve chosen Macmillian Cancer Support for all the great work they do with patients and their family members during and after what truly is a terrible disease.
I'm also glad to announce that Jordan Cervo, a good friend, who has experience the good work done by Macmillian Cancer Support, will be joining me this year in raising funds by doing the MOVEMBER challenge.
Here's Jordan story:
"I had an uncle with throat cancer and who after treatment was given the all clear, a year later was told that a small piece had broken off and had cancer again. The NHS did all they could and he was handed on to McMillan who cared for him and brought him home so that he could pass away at home with his relatives around him. They provided a great support network and care during his cancer and after he passed.”
With your generosity, I’d like to do the same this year, and together we can help with funds much needed for the great work they do at Macmillian Cancer Support.
