"Three Degrees" are a team of three - Sheila Webster,Vicki Vincent and Karen Bailey; and we all have personal reasons to raise money for "We are Macmillan Cancer Care and Support".
Sheila & Vicki's Story
Geordie Vincent was diagnosed with prostate cancer, and for a number of years it was very effectively managed and treated, that is up until just before Christmas 2011.
Sadly, the cancer had become very aggressive and had already spread to his bladder – although Geordie faced an uncertain future, it was initially envisaged that he would undergo radio and chemotherapy in the New Year.
Sadly, because of the nature of the cancer, it was felt that it wasn’t worth putting Geordie through this treatment as it would make no difference to his prognosis.
In early February 2012, Geordies family were given the devastating news that the hospital could do no more for him, and he was sent home to be with his family… the doctors advised family that he had 2 days – or up to a week if he was lucky…. Two days later, on 10th February 2012 Geordie passed away gently in his sleep, with his family at his bedside…. He was just 57 years of age.
Karen's Story
My reason for doing this challenge is in memory of my dear Grandad, Stan, who sadly passed away at the grand old age of 90 on January 9th this year. He suffered from lymphatic cancer, and was cared for by Macmillan nurses.
We all know times are hard financially, but please dig deep for this wonderful cause . Thank you. Sheila, Vicky & Karen xx
