Story
The answer is Victoria Mattison, Karen Ackerman and Helen Style! We're hoping that despite the age, our 6 legs will manage to run us 10K around London on July 10th to raise money for Grief Encounter, a charity that aims to provide the best possible support to bereaved children, young people and their families following the death of a parent or sibling.
Nobody wants to think about ever having to use the services of Grief Encounter; the loss of a loved one has profound and potentially devastating effects. The facts are that one day someone you will know will need help.
- 1 in 29 children in the UK under 16 will experience the death of a parent
- Every half an hour a child loses a parent somewhere in the UK
Grief Encounter relieves some of the emotional distress caused by the death of a parent or sibling and lessens the isolation of grief for bereaved young people and their families at a time of great vulnerablilty. Grief Encounter supports families and children through one to one counselling, workshops, residential camps, fun days, school programmes and informative and therapeutic products.
So when we're huffing and puffing round Muswell Hilll training (some may call it chatting). At least we know we're doing it for a really good cause. Something that will really make a dfference to loads of young people and their families. And whatever help you can give, will help us make a difference.
Thanks
Karen, Helen and Victoria
