We support treatment, research and care to make our hospitals even better

Story

As a charity our mission is simple: to support the excellence in treatment, research and care we provide to our patients each and every day. We want to make a real difference to the people we treat – young and old – by making sure that they continue to receive the very best treatment in the very best facilities.

A1 is a Respiratory ward  that has looked after Covid 19 patients for the past 2 years. It has been a very challenging time for all concerned and looking after patients well being has been of great importance.  Helping patients to stay connected to their families has been essential for their mental health, especially at times when visitors were not allowed onto the ward. Activities such as. coloring, diamond painting and other crafts, board games  and cards etc have helped us to keep patients entertained or simply occupied. It alleviates boredom and stimulates our patients minds, which helps them to recover quicker and gets them home to their loved ones sooner. We want to continue to offer this to enhance our patients experience of being in hospital. We would like the resources to offer Relatives a bed for the night when that is required. We have had some lovely celebrations such as the queens Jubilee that was very popular with the patients where we served mocktails and treats. We like to provide ices in hot weather and cooled fresh fruit. All of which have been enjoyed by patients.

Our Amazing staff on A1 are giving up their own time to raise funds for the ward so we can continue to provide valuable extras. Our work is our passion. Happy Patients=Happy Staff !!
